Happy new year! As promised at the end of the last year, my company, Ngarua Services, will increasingly focus on providing information on the emerging self-sustenance economic model. In my latest book, “The employment illusion”, I predict that the self-sustenance economy will eventually dominate the way humans provide for their living, and that the current “gig” or “contract” based economy is simply a transitional phase.
Evidence of the growing self-sustenance economy is everywhere you look, from the popularity of “Do it yourself” videos on You-tube, 3D printers, to the increased use of the internet for personal research in various areas, e.g. legal, health, etc., where people previously relied on “experts” or “professionals” for guidance.
At the same time, employment opportunities are shrinking due to automation and other reasons, discussed in my book, reducing the purchasing power of the population, and thus necessitating the need for alternative economic models.
To cater for this increasing need, my companies website now has more information on the self-sustenance options in each of the sectors pages in the main menu. Furthermore, my company has launched a new education division, Jitegemee University, to produce educational content via publications, video, webinars and seminars, that address this growing economic model. Jitegemee is a Kiswahili word, which translated into the English language means “Depend on yourself”, the motto of the new University.
